Two day workshop accredited by the University of Surrey
This workshop will be facilitated by David Sheard, Director Dementia Care Matters and author of 'Nurturing: emotions at work in dementia care' the fourth book in the 'Feelings Matter Most' series.
This workshop will look at the missing piece of person centred dementia care -- hearing the voices of staff working in dementia care and supporting their lived experience.
If person centred care is ever to become a sustained reality for people living with a dementia this relies on the same approach being practised towards staff. This means being person centred with people working in dementia care and developing staff teams who know how to be person centred with one another. This workshop will turn person centred care on its head and propose that its successful implementation in the health and social care sector is solely reliant over the next few years on nurturing staff support in dementia care.
